Today I am excited to say that I created an Animoto account and created my first Animoto video! So much can be conveyed through pictures and that is what Animoto does- shares the importance of a topic through pictures. The pictures I selected all have relevance to our current topic of slavery. Animoto can be used to make a video about any topic and can include video clips as well as captions for the pictures that are added. This can be used to introduce a new topic to the class or to prompt a discussion about the relevance of the pictures to the topic we are learning about. This is a great new tool for us to explore and continue to work with as the slavery unit progresses. Below is the link to the video I created:

Educational Value of Wordle
Hello all!
Welcome to Miss Dube's Blogger page as part of our WebQuest! Today for the first time, I used Wordle to create an interesting image using all the important words from our unit about slavery. It may just seem like a jumble of words but it is so much more than that! Wordle picks out the words that you've used the most when you paste a passage so you know which words are the most important or which words you've used too much if the words are not as important to the subject. This might be a good way to proofread and summarize the main ideas of an essay. Wordle is also a good way to spice up a presentation: putting a Wordle image into a presentation would be a fun way to prompt discussion. It is also an interesting image to help break-up a presentation that may contain a lot of words. Please give it a try! It is worth the experience!
